Before summer wraps up, we asked our team one simple question:
Where do you actually go?
Not bucket list destinations. Not Instagram-only spots.
Just real places our crew head to when it’s time to switch off.
Here are seven camp spots our team genuinely recommend — from quick weekend trips to longer touring stops.
1. Boonoo Boonoo Falls (QLD/NSW Border)
Recommended by Casey – Sales Team
A solid weekend option for those in South East QLD or Northern NSW.
Boonoo Boonoo Falls offers beautiful swimming holes above the main falls, plenty of walking trails and classic national park scenery. It’s an easy mix of relaxing and exploring without needing a massive setup.

2. Wallaman Falls (FNQ)
Recommended by Vaughn – Sales Team
Everyone drives past it on the way to the Cape — but it’s worth stopping.
Located 51km west of Ingham in Girringun National Park, Wallaman Falls is Australia’s highest permanent single-drop waterfall, plunging 268 metres into a deep pool below.
You can walk down to the base (around a 2-hour return trip) and yes — you can swim there. No crocs. There’s also a day-use area and a small campground, making it a great scenic stop to break up a longer trip north.

Bonus Local Pick – Dalbeg (FNQ)
Where the Bowen and Burdekin Rivers meet.
Great riverside camping, barra fishing, and long 4WD tracks. You can keep it easy or make it challenging if you want. The second image is Vaughn’s old Cruiser heading through Dalbeg.

3. Larapinta Cattle Farm (HipCamp – QLD)
Recommended by Luke – Accessory Fitter
A quiet cattle property near Laravale where you can pick your own scenic camp spot across the hills.
It’s simple, peaceful and a good place to unwind. Luke liked it that much — he proposed to his partner here last year.

4. Amamoor State Forest (QLD)
Recommended by Ben – Accessory Fitter
A great weekend destination with plenty to see and do in the surrounding region.
Amamoor offers classic bush camping with room to explore, making it a good balance between relaxing around camp and getting out for a drive or walk.

5. Cressbrook Dam (QLD)
Recommended by Gordon – Sales Team
Close to Toowoomba and ideal for a simple getaway.
Open camp areas, hot showers, BBQ facilities, kayaking, fishing and campfires. It’s family-friendly and easy, with Crows Nest nearby for a pub meal or day trip to the falls and national parks.
Sometimes simple is exactly what you need.

6. Waves n' Ripples – Anna Bay (NSW)
Recommended by Riley – Marketing & Media
Located in Port Stephens near Newcastle, Anna Bay offers beach driving, fishing, golf and activities for all ages.
Waves n' Ripples is a welcoming 4WD-access HipCamp property set amongst coastal bushland. It’s a great base if you’re heading south and want a mix of beach and bush.

7. Wongalea Fishing & Camping – Yetman (NSW)
Recommended by Leigh & Mick Tighe
Riverside camping along the Macintyre River.
It’s the kind of place where you lay a picnic blanket down, swim, unwind and slow the pace right down. There’s plenty of birdlife — including kingfishers nesting nearby — and the small town of Yetman is just up the road.
A proper reset spot.
